Foothills Food Bank partners with Scottsdale Healthcare to provide classes
This September, the Foothills Food Bank will be hosting classes at its new location, in partnership with Scottsdale Healthcare. In addition, there will be a health screening on September 12th, 2013, from 8 am to 10 am.
Cardiovascular Screening @ the Foothills Food Bank // September 12th, 8 am to 10 am
At this screening, health care professionals will test cholesterol and glucose levels, blood pressure, BMI, and more, to provide participants with comprehensive snapshots of their current cardiovascular health. In addition to providing educational materials to participants, Scottsdale Healthcare will also provide a physical copy of screening results to participants, which can be taken to personal physicians for follow-up action.
The screening will take place at the Foothills Food Bank, and registration is free. To register, call 480-882-4636 to make an appointment.
Tobacco Cessation Classes // 8-week course @ the Foothills Food Bank, that runs on Tuesdays from 5 pm to 6 pm, beginning September 10th
This free course, held in partnership between the Foothills Food Bank and Scottsdale Healthcare, will run for eight weeks beginning on September 10th. The course is intended to teach participants about their personal motivators for tobacco use and to allow those enrolled to cease using tobacco permanently.
The courses are instructed by tobacco treatment specialists, and will take place from 5 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday evenings. Participants must register for the course before September 10th. Registration can be completed by going to www.shc.org or by calling 480-882-4636.
