In 1988, the food bank was founded because there was a large Hispanic population that was in need.  Today, the opposite is true.  The majority of the population that we are serving is non-Hispanic.  In the beginning we would see, on average, 45 families a month.  Today we see, on average, 375 families in a month.

Seniors in need are the fastest growing demographic that we serve.  They struggle to make ends meet and the food they receive from the Foothills Food Bank helps them to pay other expenses.

We are also seeing more people that are either living in their car or out in the desert.  We are trying to help them with additional resources.  We have a group of volunteers that will meet with a client one-on-one to help them in finding resources that will get them out of those situations and into a more comfortable living environment, particularly in the warm summer months.
